- A lot of work was put into the simulation of the required take-off distance of our airplane.
- This is very important since one of the top-level requirements states that the maximum take off distance has to be 61 m.
- A sophisticated software written in the Matlab programming language was used to perform the calculations.
- To support our coding we made extensive use of an aerodynamics program called XFLR5. This tool is open source and extremely helpful in terms of analyzing a wing, body and tail combination.
- As a means of risk-management we also included a prototyping phase within this design step. Hence we conducted tests to verify our previous assumptions and proved our concept. Moreover this significantly decreases the likelihood of our top-level risks.
